INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY ..

Belfast City Council ... 8th March 2010

Belfast’s Lord Mayor Naomi Long hosted the Belfast Area Partnerships at City Hall on Monday 8th March to mark International Women’s Day in Belfast and ‘Celebrate Women Working in Partnership towards a Better Belfast’.

The event drew together women from throughout Belfast from a range of sectors – from community and women’s development, from health, education, housing, transport, academia, community safety, planning and business sectors – right through to PSNI and elected representatives, all of whom are instrumental in driving forward the social, economic, physical and cultural regeneration of Belfast.

Also in attendance was Evelyn Collins, CEO of the Equality Commission, who gave an inspirational speech about the challenges facing women in achieving equality in today’s society.
