Integrated Services for Children and Young People

The Integrated Services for Children & Young People (ISCYP) Programme is a major initiative of the West Belfast Partnership. The result of work undertaken by the West Belfast and Greater Shankill Task Force, led by Gerry Adams MP and involving local community activists.

Economic Development

The Economic Development Unit (EDU) of the West Belfast Partnership Board was established in January 2000, to further the economic regeneration of West Belfast in a strategic and focussed way. Comprising a small but efficient staff team, its core aim is to address long-term unemployment and promote community and business economic development.

Education

The role of the education subgroup is to act as advisor and facilitator for the development of an education policy and programme of WBPB.

Health

The health subgroup mains aims is to establish a forum that facilitates the West Belfast community in expressing it health and social well-being needs and to engage with relevant policy makers and service providers and to ensure health & well-being issues remain high on the community, voluntary, statutory and political agenda.

Neighbourhood Renewal

The neighbourhood subgroup aims is to ensure that the people living in the most deprived neighbourhoods have access to the best possible services and the opportunities which make for a better quality of life and prospects for themselves and their families and to improve the environment and image of our most deprived neighbourhoods so that they become attractive places in which to live and invest.

Strategic Regeneration

By virtue of its social, physical and economic make-up, West Belfast has been the focus of many regeneration projects and initiatives, including most recently, Neighbourhood Renewal and the Renewing Communities programme.

Planning and Environment

The planning and environment group is to improve the quality of the natural and built environment so that it is an attractive and healthy place to live, work and invest
